About Anthony Pryor

Anthony PryorAnthony Pryor has been writing for the gaming industry since the late Cenezoic era, starting with FASA's Battletech in the 1980s, moving on to Bard Games' World of Talislanta, Dungeons & Dragons (for both WotC and TSR) and others. He was line developer for the Ennie-Award winning Scarred Lands series from White Wolf/Swords and Sorcery, and has more recently produced material for Frog God Games, Green Ronin's A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying, and Pinnacle Entertainment Group's Savage Worlds in their upcoming Flash Gordon setting. His contemporary dark fantasy series "The Shepherd" is being published by Permuted Press. His day job is providing technical support for a large school district, and he currently lives in Milwaukie, Oregon with a really lazy cat. He plans to continue writing both fiction and gaming material from beyond the grave, possibly via table-rapping or Ouija board.

Anthony's Inspiration

"Freeport is one of (if not the) very first third-party settings for D&D third edition, and I've been playing there since the beginning, when my friend Dale ran us through Death in Freeport. Since then I've followed the city through many editions, watching it grow and develop into one of the most fascinating and deep settings in fantasy roleplaying. Along the way I produced some material for Buccaneers of Freeport and remained a big fan of Green Ronin. I love Freeport's combination of seafaring adventure, traditional RPG settings, unique characters, and its undercurrent of Lovecraftian horror. Needless to say the opportunity to pen some fiction set in this fascinating city and its environs was irresistible and hopefully this short tale will provide readers with the opportunity to swash their buckles and enjoy some adventure amid the teeming streets and alleys of Freeport."
